Hadiths about cupping compiled from Kutubi sitte, Bukhari and similar Hadiths books!

Hadith No 6996 –  Hz. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Every group of people I passed by during the Miraj said to me, ‘O Muhammad! Order your nation to receive cupping!’”

Hadith No 3984  – Hz. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would receive cupping therapy from the veins on both sides of his neck and the vein between his shoulders.

Hadith Sharif No 3983  – Abu Kashba al-Anmari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) received cupping on his head and between his shoulders and said:

He used to say, “Whoever sheds this blood will not be harmed by any disease, even if he is not cured with any other medicine.”

Hadith Serif No (2054);  Ibn Abbas says: “On the Night of Ascension, whenever the Messenger of Allah (saw) visited a group of angels, they would say: “Continue to receive cupping! Order your ummah to receive cupping too!”

Hadith No 3121;  The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “There are three things that do not break the fast: cupping (having blood drawn), vomiting, and having a wet dream.”

Hadith No 3973  – Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Healing is in three things:

- Honey sherbet.
- Don't get blood drawn.
- Don't cauterize with fire.
However, I forbid my ummah from cauterizing."
In a narration, it has been said: "There is healing in honey and cupping."

Hadith No 3974  – Again, Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The best of the things that you can treat with are sa’ut (nose drops), cupping (bloodletting), ledud (oral drops) and mashiyy (drinking laxatives).”

Tirmidhi, Medicine 9, (2048, 2049).

Hadith Sharif No 3801;  The Messenger of Allah used to perform ablution for four things: “Janabat, Friday, cupping, washing the dead.”

Hadith No 3986  – In a narration in Sahih, it is said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would receive cupping and would not wrong anyone in his payment.”
Hadith No 1203 –  Again, Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) received cupping (had his blood drawn) while he was in ihram.”
Bukhari, Jaza’u’s-Sayd 11, Tibb 12,15; Muslim, Hajj 88., (1203); Abu Dawud, Manasik 36, (1835-1836); Tirmidhi, Hajj 22, (839); Nasai, Hajj 92, (5, 193); Ibn Majah, Manasik 87, (3081).) This text is the text of Sahiheen.
In another narration by the late Bukhari, it is said: “The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) was cupped while he was fasting.” Again, in another narration by Bukhari, it is said: “(The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) was cupped on his head because of a pain he had while he was in ihram.”
In another narration, it is said: “He was cupped in the middle of his head at a spring called Lahyu Jamal on the way to Mecca because of a pain called Shaqiqa (in the front part of his head).”
Hadith No 1204 –  Hz. Anas (radiallahu anhu) narrates: “The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) was cupped because of a pain he had on the back of his foot while he was in ihram.”
Abu Dawud, Manasik 36, (1837); Nasa'i, Hajj 94, (5,194).
In the narration of Nasa'i, it is said, "..He was cupped (on the back of his foot) because of the injury he suffered."
Hadith No: 1205 -  Nafi narrates: "Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "A person in ihram cannot receive cupping unless he is forced to for an unavoidable reason."
Hadith No: 3108 -  Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There are three things that do not break the fast: Receiving cupping (having blood drawn), vomiting, and having a wet dream."
Hadith No: 1217  The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) received cupping (having blood drawn) while he was in ihram. (This text is the text of Sahiheen.) In another narration by the late Bukhari, it is said: “[The Messenger of Allah (pbuh)] was cupped while he was fasting.” Again, in another narration by Bukhari, it is said: “[The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) was cupped on his head because of a pain he suffered while he was in ihram.” In another narration, it is said: “He was cupped in the middle of his head at a spring called Lahyu Jamal on the way to Mecca because of a pain called Shaqiqa (in the front part of his head).
Hadith No: 1218;  The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) was cupped because of a pain he suffered on the back of his foot while he was in ihram.

(In the narration of Nasai, it is stated that “…Due to the injury she suffered (her foot was cupped on the back of my foot).”
Hadith No: 1219;  Ibn Umar (ra) said: “A person in ihram cannot receive cupping unless he is forced to for an unavoidable reason.”
Hadith No: 1264: ‘’Our mother Ummu Salamah (one of the wives of the Messenger of Allah (SAW)) asked permission from the Messenger of Allah (SAW) to receive cupping. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) ordered Abu Tayba to perform cupping on Ummu Salamah. (The narrator) said: Abu Tayba was probably Ummu Salamah’s foster brother. Or Abu Tayba was not yet a teenager.’’

Hadith No 2028-  It was narrated from Jabir (ra): “Umm Salamah (one of the wives of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) asked permission from the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) to have cupping done. Thereupon, the Prophet (pbuh) ordered Abu Tayba to take blood from Ummu Salamah.” [323]

Hadith No 2030 -  It was narrated from Abdullah Ibn Abbas (ra): "The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) had his blood drawn. He paid the person who drew the blood the price and put medicine in his nose."[325]

Hadith Sharif No 3110 –  Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was cupped while he was in ihram. Likewise, he was cupped while he was fasting.”
Bukhari, Sawm 32, Tibb 11; Muslim, Hajj 87, (1202); Abu Dawud, Sawm 29, (2372, 2373); Tirmidhi, Sawm 61, (775, 776, 777).

Hadith No 3111  – Hz. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: “We only abandoned cupping for fear that a fasting person would become exhausted.”
Abu Dawud, Sawm 29, (2375); Bukhari, Sawm 32.Tirmidhi, Sawm 24, (719).

Hadith No 3112 –  Ibn Abi Layla narrates from a Companion: “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade cupping and muvasala (not breaking the fast for several consecutive days). However, he did not forbid these to his Companions. It was said to him: “O Messenger of Allah, you continue fasting until sahur.” He replied:
“I continue fasting until sahur because my Lord makes me eat and drink.”
Abu Dawud, Sawm 29, (2374).

Hadith No 3113 –  Rafi’ Ibn Hadij (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “The one who is cupped and the one who is cupped have both broken their fast.” Tirmidhi, Sawm 60, (774); Abu Dawud, Sawm 28, (2367); Ibn Majah, Sawm 18, (1679, 1680, 1681).

Hadith No 3123;  The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) was cupped while he was in ihram. Likewise, he was cupped while he was fasting.

Hadith No: 3124  We have abandoned cupping for a fasting person only out of fear of exhaustion.

Hadith Serif No: 3125;  Ibn Abi Leyla narrates from a Companion: “The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) forbade cupping and muvasala (not breaking the fast for several consecutive days). However, he did not forbid these for his Companions. It was said to him: “O Messenger of Allah, you continue fasting until sahur” and he replied: “I continue fasting until sahur because my Lord makes me eat and drink.”

Hadith Serif No: 3126;  The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Both the one who is cupped and the one who is cupped have broken their fast.”

Hadith No 3985  – Tirmidhi adds the following: “(The Messenger of Allah (saw) used to have cupping on the seventeenth, nineteenth and twenty-first of the month.” Tirmidhi, Tibb 12, (2052). Abu Dawud, Tibb 11, (3871); Nasai, Sayd 36, (7, 210).

Hadith No 3987  – Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “What a good act Hajj is; it removes (excess) blood, lightens the back and brightens the eyes.”

Hadith No 3988  – According to what is narrated from Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), this honorable companion used to forbid his family from having cupping on Tuesday. He used to say: “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Tuesday is the day of bleeding. There is an hour on that day when the bleeding does not stop.”
Abu Dawud, Medicine 5, (3862).

Hadith Serif No 3990 ; The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Cure is in three things: * Honey sherbet. * Bloodletting, * Cauterization with fire. However, I forbid my ummah from cauterizing.” In a narration, he said: “There is cure in honey and cupping.”

Hadith Sharif No 3991 ; The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “The best of the things that you can treat with are sa'ut (nose drops), cupping (bloodletting), ledud (oral drops) and mashiyy (drinking laxatives).

Hadith No 3994;  The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) received cupping therapy and paid the fee to the doctor who performed the cupping therapy and also used nasal drops.

Hadith No 4000 ; The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) would receive cupping on his head and between his shoulders and would say: "Whoever lets this blood flow will not be harmed by any disease, even if he is not treated with any other medicine."

Hadith No: 4001 ; The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) would receive cupping therapy from the veins on both sides of his neck and the vein in the middle of his shoulders.

Hadith No: 4003;  The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) would receive cupping and would not wrong anyone in his payment.

Hadith No: 4004;  The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “What a good servant the cupper is; it removes (excess) blood, lightens the back, and brightens the eyes.” Ibn Abbas says: “On the Night of Ascension, whenever the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) visited a congregation of angels, they would say, “Continue to receive cupping! Order your ummah to receive cupping too!”

Hadith No: 4005;  According to what was narrated from him, this honorable companion used to forbid his family from having cupping on Tuesdays. He used to say: “The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Tuesday is the day of bleeding. There is an hour on that day when the bleeding does not stop.”

Hadith No 5144  – Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) had cupping and paid the fee to the cupper. If it (the fee for cupping) had been forbidden, he would not have paid it. He also spoke to his master, who reduced his tax.”

Hadith Serif No ; 5168;  The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) was cupped and gave the cupper his fee. If this (fee for cupping) had been forbidden, he would not have given it. He also spoke to his master, who reduced his tax.

Hadith No 5626  – Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: “Abu Hind had cupped the Messenger of Allah (saw) on his fontanelle. The Messenger of Allah (saw)
said: “O Banu Baza, marry Abu Hind, marry her!” and added: “If there is any benefit in any of the things you seek for treatment, it is cupping:

Hadith No 6630 –  Hz. Ali (Ra) narrates: “The Messenger of Allah (SAW) was cupped and he ordered me to do it, so I paid the fee of the person who did the cupping.”

Hadith No 6631  – Ukba Ibn Amr (Ra) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) forbade the one who does cupping to earn (from this work).”

Hadith No 6484  – Hz. Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Both the one who administers cupping and the one who has it administered break their fast.”

Hadith No 6997 –  Hz. Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: “(One day) Gabriel brought the order to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) to receive cupping at the level of Ahdaayn (the vein on both sides of the neck) and the Kahīl (between the two shoulders).”

Hadith No 6998  – Hz. Jabir radıyallahu anh narrates: “The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) fell from his horse onto a palm tree trunk and his foot was dislocated.”
Narrator Waki ​​says: “That is, the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) had cupping done on the top of his foot because of an injury.”

IN WHICH MONTH SHOULD CUPPING BE DONE?

Hadith No 6999  – Hz. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever wants to be cupped should look for the 17th, 19th or 21st of the month. Do not let the blood overpower one of you and kill him.”
